I was a full-time elementary school teacher during the 1980's for two years. Between 1995 and 2004 I worked in the elementary schools of my three children on a weekly basis. I worked in after school programs and in magazine workshops for children in grades 3 though 5 while my children were in elementary school and I have worked in a Brooklyn after school tutoring center on a volunteer basis for the past 5 years. Also, out of necessity I presided over a great deal of home study with my son, now a young man beginning college, who has autism and developed many strategies for teaching children on the spectrum.  I love teaching elementary school mathematics and especially helping struggling readers to develop a recreational reading life. Working in an after school program for five years and as our family's dedicated homework helper has taught me that after school homework help can help whose families to families to better tolerate the tyranny of homework.
